Hillary Clinton: A New President in 2008What is the Republican Party's problem with Hillary Clinton? Oh, they'll say they don't agree with her policy priorities, but that's somewhat silly. After all, over the past five years, Senator Clinton has proven herself to be hawkish on defense and moderate on domestic issues. She's hardly the sort of liberal that Republicans love to hate for their ideas.
No, let's get real: the real reason Republicans can't stand Hillary Clinton are simple and threefold:
- Hillary Clinton is a woman (the gall!)
- Hillary Clinton has a backbone (the nerve!)
- Hillary Clinton demands respect (the arrogance!)
The Republicans who keep pushing onward with their Hillary-hating campaign, years after her tenure as First Lady ended, just can't handle the idea of a strong, independent woman. They can't handle it, just like they can't handle the idea of women as human beings in general, so they'll try to tear her down.
But isn't it about time the Neanderthals finally got a good electoral slap about the cheeks? Isn't it time that the rest of America showed the Republican regressives that we've moved beyond gonad-based politics?
Say what you like about Hillary Clinton; you can't deny she's a scrappy, intelligent, perceptive and resourceful political fighter. Too many people have counted her out, only to find themselves down for the count at the receiving end of her strategic fist.
