Former Senator John Edwards of North Carolina struck some political observers as a lightweight during the 2004 presidential campaign -- a good-looking, slick-talking man in search of an office to match his hair. But in the second half of his campaign to be nominated president, Edwards surprised just about everybody with his "Two Americas" speech during which he laid out the face of American inequality in a stark way that no national Democrat had dared for a decade. The speech rung true, as did his calls during nomination debates for Democratic Party combatants to keep their eyes on the prize and stop engaging in counterproductively silly personal attacks. After John Edwards lost the Vice Presidential prize, he continued to work on poverty issues, gaining a measure of trust in his populist positions that may serve him well as he clearly prepares for a 2008 presidential bid.
We offer these pro-Edwards campaign buttons, bumper stickers, shirts and more through our online shop of progressive paraphernalia. We hope that you'll go and grab a couple, and incite a little subversion amongst your friends and family.
