Former Senator and Vice President Al Gore is not lean -- but he is green. In the past two years, Al Gore has gone green in two senses. The first sense embraces a combination of green environmentalism and the greenback dollar as Mr. Gore attempts to convince social liberals who are economic moderates that curbing greenhouse gas emissions is a crucial long-term economic strategy, not just a morally good feel-good campaign. His movie and book, both titled An Inconvenient Truth, offer splashy depictions of climate research in pursuit of that goal. The second sense of Al Gore's greenness should be capitalized: Al Gore is not a member of the Green Party in any official or nonofficial sense, but he has adopted the Green Party's distrust of media conglomerates, embrace of alternative media, and emphasis upon constitutional rights to deliver a series of stirring speeches that have summed up for so many of us the pathological problems that have plagued us during the Bush years and the paths we must follow to lead us out of our problems and back onto a positive political track. Al Gore may not be in the White House, but he is leading America with his strong visions for the future. Why not make it official? Why not support Al Gore for President in 2008?
We offer these pro-Gore campaign buttons, bumper stickers, shirts and more through our online shop of progressive paraphernalia. We hope that you'll go and grab a couple, and incite a little subversion amongst your friends and family.
