There's something odd about the way that American business treats atheists. Atheists are one of the most significant groups there are in America, yet there aren't many businesses that are designed to deal with them and their interests. Estimates are that between 5 and 15 percent of Americans are atheists, but who gives them a chance to really speak out? Right now, there's just not much of an option for atheists who want to go out and get something that reflects their ideas about life, religion and the value of critical thinking.
We have written about the atheist life for years in the column Further Than Atheism, but we hadn't really considered the relationship of business and the inner life of people who live without religion until very recently. We now offer this collection of atheist goods - bumperstickers, mostly, but with a few t-shirts, postcards and an odd poster as well - as a remedy to this oversight.
We hope that you'll be able to use something from this collection to announce yourself. Come out of the closet and openly admit that you just don't believe in all those ancient religious teachings. Yours is a different path, and we encourage you to start traveling it today, independently, respectfully, and unapologetically.
For an even larger selection of irreligious, humanistic, and atheistic bumper stickers, buttons and t-shirts, visit our collections at Godless Goods and Irregular Heresies.
