Do you think that, if you want to protect your freedom against the power hungry agenda of the Republican Party, you can just vote Democrat and then forget about it? Think again. There are many good, progressive Democrats in Congress, but there are others who just don't seem capable of standing up to the Republicans. Then again, there's a group of Democrats who are even farther into the right wing than some of their Republican colleagues.

It's not enough to just vote Democrat any more. We need to the right kind of Democrats into Congress, and we need to get the wrong kind of Democrats out.

The following are the 66 Democrats in the House of Representatives who voted for the Patriot Act, a second time, in 2006. It's bad enough that when the law was passed in 2001, they voted to approve it without having the chance even to read it first. It's worse that they have now reauthorized the law, knowing full well how much it weakens the constitutional rights guaranteed to Americans in the Bill of Rights.

These Democrats voted to give George W. Bush the power to keep spying on Americans. In a time when we all know that Bush has abused these kinds of powers, that's just the wrong thing to do.
