Innocent Until Proven Guilty
The Hutaree militia of southern Michigan and surrounding states seems to have been determined to engage in acts of Christian terrorism, and to inspire similar acts in other religious radicals. That much is a matter of information openly shared at the Hutarees' own web site, Hutaree.com.
However, in terms of the particular crimes that individual Hutaree have been accused of, it's important to respect the legal principle that the radical right wing has denied to so many accused Muslims accused of involvement in terrorism: The presumption of innocence. We don't know if the Hutaree are truly guilty of the particular crimes that they've been accused of in the indictment released on March 29, 2010. What we do know is that the Hutaree have been attempting to spread an ideology of violent hatred, justifying violence against non-Christians and open rebellion against the U.S. government.
When it comes to criminal activities, we'll do our best to refer to allegations. Of criminal activity, we won't know whether the Hutarees are guilty until they're convicted in a court of law. When it comes to religious extremism and incitement to violence, there's no question of what the Hutaree have been up to.
Remaining Hutaree Sympathizers
Nine members of the Hutaree have been arrested and charged with a conspiracy to wage war against the United States of America, starting with a cruel murder plot against police officers, the families of police officers, and anyone else who happened to get in their way. The FBI has seized a huge cache of weapons from the Hutaree.
So, one might conclude that the Hutaree story is over. However, even as the sadistic nature of the Hutaree conspiracy has been uncovered, Hutaree sympathizers have surfaced within many right wing organizations. There are many who claim that the Hutarees are being persecuted for nothing other than free speech and gun ownership, although the criminal indictments against them make it plain that they're being prosecuted because of conspiracy to murder and armed rebellion.
The following are just a few of the comments we've received here at Irregular Times in support of the Hutaree's violent ideology:
"shut the fuck up.when last have you knelt before the alter of our lord god.they are merely trying to protect what is our way.heathens are a blight onto this country.political correctness,my arse.you do not legislate feelings, and manners.if a person acts like a nigger,he should be called one.Jesus said, blessed are the meek,he was not referring to girly men.you can be meek, and awfully powerful at same time.dispense your might in a nice way."
"EVERYONE WHO READS THIS GARBAGE SHOULD BE EXILED FROM THIS COUNTRY FOR TREASON. THIS WEBSITE IS ONLY ANOTHER MEANS TO ALLOW THE JESUITS, FREE MASONS, ILLUMINATE, 13 MEROVINGIAN BLOODLINES, AND ROME TO RULE THIS PLANET THROUGH MASS MANIPULATION AND WAR THROUGH RELIGION THE VATICAN CONTROLS WITH EXTREMELY POWERFUL INTERNATIONAL BANKING, DRUG SMUGGLING, MURDERERS WHO BASICALLY CONTROL THIS COUNTRY"
"Police, cops, pigs, what ever you want to call the scum need to be delt with accordingly. AMEN -trust no law enforcement they will be the end of you"
"GOD has also asked for the murder of others in order to keep things pure -sometimes even the best people have to get a little blood on their hands when they come for you will you go like a sheeple or come out kicking and screaming like I said pick a side and stick with it no room for anyone on the fence"
"These boys got their minds right. Get ready to get ready. its a coming you are just to blind to see it. then its to late and you are being rounded up like the jews and off to camp you go."
"Could the arrests be some sort of pre-emptive strike against a group that poses a threat to someone in power? Our government is not beyond planting evidence if need be. Nor is it against providing agent provoceteurs. It seems strange that we would waste our time arresting people with no known criminal backgrounds as of yet, while we have a clear and present danger in this country from Islamic terrorism from within and without."
"I did not see what exactly Khristopher Sickles was accused of either, other than associating with the co-defendants who actually did nothing. The WMD allegation is laughable. I also listened to most of Alex Jones’ 2009 interview with Khristopher Sickles (a.k.a Pale Horse). He sounded like a normal person."
"Now they have done nothing wrong. It has not been proven that they have planned an offensive against the Muslim community in Detroit or any other city for that matter. This was a major mistake for the Obama administration because it just adds proof to the belief that it is socialist->yielding communist because of the fact that these people were raided BASED ON FREE SPEECH. The last time I looked it was not against the law to get a bunch of guys together and form a group and play army. The last time I looked we are still the United States of America PROTECTED by the US Constitution with it’s Bill of Rights. NOW – you see why these guys feel like they need to protect themselves against the scourge of the planet – because it has become clear to them that the government is not going to."
With supporters like these, is it possible that the March 2010 arrests will lead to the creation of yet more Hutaree-affiliate groups around the country? Let's keep an eye out.
