Maryland Against Newt Gingrich

Voters in Maryland have many reasons to oppose a presidential campaign by Newt Gingrich in 2012. Anti-war citizens may note Gingrich's speech in front of the Harbor League of Baltimore in January of 2007 in which Gingrich promoted the idea of a war against Islam that "could last anywhere from 30 to 70 years". Such an idea is both financially and strategically irresponsible. If America could defeat Hitler in just a few years, what makes Gingrich want to fight a slow war that will drain the USA of its resources over three generations?

A writer in the Southern Maryland Community Forums finds a more personal reason to oppose Gingrich 2012, savagely commenting,"I do not want another Pol in the White House, who cannot keep it in his pants, or is a drug user". It was in Maryland that Gingrich declared himself to be proud of his limited knowledge and insight: "I am not a citizen of the world," Gingrich asserted, eliciting visible winces in the audience.

Where Can Opponents of Gingrich in Maryland Turn?

There is not yet an organized source of anti-Gingrich activism in Maryland. However, Maryland citizens can encourage the Maryland Democratic Party to begin an anti-Gingrich campaign by organizing through the chapters of the Progressive Democrats of America in Maryland. Those favoring a more strongly liberal perspective can find that in the Maryland Green Party. Maryland activists can also look to the Maryland Progressive Directory for individuals and organizations opposing the right wing policies that Gingrich is so fond of.
